Abeokuta - The beneficiaries of Ogun Broiler project are to make average profit of N130,000 each per six weeks of production in the first pilot cycle as the second round of production commenced at Odeda/Eweje farm institute Ogun state.
According to the Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr Samson Adeola Odedina, The first set of 54 beneficiaries of the Ogun broiler project that made an average profit of N130,000 each in the 6weeks of production, have stocked another set of 54,000 day old broiler chicks for the second round of production on Monday 23rd March, 2020.
"It is projected that an average profit of N170,000 each, will be realised in this second round of production. This cycle of production will produce over 110,000kg of broiler meat in the next 6weeks, specifically, first week of May, 2020. This will further reduce the dependency on foreign poultry products." said Dr Samson Adeola Odedina
The commissioner who maintained social distancing in compliance with the Ogun State government measures to curb coronavirus pandemic ensured all his entourage use face mask and sanitize themselves before and after the inspection of the poultry estate.
In the same vein, he said arrangements are ongoing to replicate this project across the 20 Local Government Areas of Ogun State.
"The success of this pilot broiler project is already attracting youths into the Ogun broiler project."
"The 54 pilot youths will also serve as train the trainers for the 9,000 youths already registered for the extension of the Ogun Broiler Project in the Ministry of Agriculture." He added.
