National Association of Nigerian Students has pleaded with the government of Ogun State to employ capable hands from the students constituency in his government as he said such moves will foster a progressive relationship that will further enhance educational development and improved students welfarism in this administration.
Meanwhile, The governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun has assured students of commitment to education and well-being as he met with the leadership of National Association of Nigerian Students NANS, Ogun State chairman, Comrade Bamgbose Tomiwa and his executives through his aides shortly after writing an open letter to express their displeasure on state of education, roads and payment of bursary to indigenous students.
According to Comrade Bamgbose Tomiwa, "The leadership of NANS Ogun JCC met with the Chief of Staff, Alhaji Salisu Shuaib, Senior Special Adviser on Political matters, Hon. Tunji Egbetokun and the Special Adviser on Government House to the Ogun State Governor, Hon. Babatunde Olaotan in respect to the open letter addressed to the state Governor."
"My administration could no longer bear the displeasure on the state of the education sector in the state that was why it was expressed in the open letter to point out issues that needs urgent attention of the state government.... We are partners in progress as much as student well-being is met said Bamgbose Tomiwa."
Below are the listed problems that needs urgent attention
Increment of subvention disbursed to state owned tertiary institution.
Rehabilitation and repair of all roads leading to all state owned tertiary institution.
Empowerment of police personnel attached to any student environment with motorable security vans to combat robbery and other social vice's in the environment.
Empowerment of all institution school clinics with drugs and other medical apparatus in order to be more efficient and serve as a save home to get urgent medical attentions.
Payment of bursary. Amebo Online Newspaper learnt.
Tomiwa said he believed urgent attention will be given to issues raised in the open letter shortly after meeting with the Chief of Staff to the Governor Alhaji Shuaib Salisu who assured the students leaders of urgent attention in response to the demands. He also assured NANS of the commitment of Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration to education and student welfarism, he said the issues listed above shall get urgent attention within short period.
Also, The Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters Rt. Hon Tunji Egbetokun also reinstated the commitment of the administration to education while discussing with the students leaders, He also assures NANS of the support of the administration in all students oriented programs. He however advised for peace and stability within all students' association so as to bring about more development to the education sector.
Tomiwa expressed gratitude to the Chief of Staff to the State Governor, the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on political matters and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Government House for their timely response to the voice of Nigerian students in the state, while reaffirming the support of Nigerian students for the present adminstration of the State.
He further assured Nigerian students to remain calm as they await the swift response of the government to the plight of Nigeria students.
