ALIMOSHO RESIDENT CALLS FOR URGENT INTERVENTION UNLAWFUL ARREST

Residents of Ikotun/Igando Alimosho local government area hereby call upon Mr President General Mohammad  Buhari, Inspector General of police, Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo Olu and the Commissioner of Police Lagos State to call the divisional police quarters around the area to order.

The residents complained bitterly of there experience faced on a daily basis of the unlawful arrest of residents who are returning from work, people standing at there gate, and those who left out to buy some food stuff adding that during the cause of this raid, majority are been battered or injured seriously

Anonymously, one of the victims who does not want his name mentioned narrates his experience why standing outside his gate by 8pm at night was dragged into the police bus who are just raiding people to their station without  committing any crime.

The statement however disclosed that anyone who is been arrested during the raid is always bail with either ten thousand naira or eight thousand from per person.

Speaking further with another victim narrating his ordeal that the unlawful arrest comes from ikotun divisional police station, igando police station, Area M Command as well others in Alimosho area of Lagos Satate.

While going around the police stations aforementioned by the Nigeria Guild of Investigative Journalist NGIJ, it’s was realized that majority who are been arrested are innocent.

Mr Arowolo Labaika, in a chat with the NGIJ members, said the government should do something about this situations  because its been a day to day activities arresting unlawfully turning the Nigeria Police Force to a business Center and  tarnishing the image of the of the Nigerian Police Force with their act having knowing that Bail is Free.

NGIJ hereby call upon the inspector General of Police to intervene into this matter to avoid other reoccurring of unlawful arrest in the terrain.
