The popular saying that good people die young could also be applicable to the ederly who have achieved greatness and done good work for God and humanity like Madam Rachael Ajike Adetola Sobola of blessed memory. Her zeal and passion to groom people were qualities which endeared her to all sundry. A devoted Christian who advised people based on bible principles and wisdom as a sage passed on at a time when her family and friends alike had wished she continued with her good works. but the inevitable struck and mama left the stage.
The Sobola's, a prominent family of many professionals were united in a grief at the calling to glory of their mother, the matriarch who played a key role in shaping the family and ensuring that everyone stayed on course. It was obvious that Mama touched so many lives during her time on earth; it was therefore no surprise that Bethel African Church, Mologede Parish, Lagos State, Nigeria, where her funeral mass was held was filled to capacity.
Born in the month of March 13, 1936 to the Late Pa Fagboyinbo in Egbaland, a very dynamic and entrprising woman, she diversified and traded in various goods and commodities, she travelled far and wide for her trading activities, and was popularly known by bigwig in Ogun State.
Mama Eleso, according to how she was usually called was a role model per excellence, she optimised hard work, diligence, resourcefulness, commitment, courage and creativity. She combined the role of mother and breadwinner, and taught her children self-reliance, sustainability and business economics.
"I have said these things to you, that in me you have peace. In the world." John16:33 "Rejoice in hope! But be patient in tribulation! Be constant in prayer" Roman 12:12 "True to the words of Jesus Christ and Apostle Paul, Rachael Ajike Adetola Sobola had her share of tribulations while in the world" However, rather than loosing hope, she forged on through her faith in prayers and hard work. In providing for the needs of her children in terms of good and quality education, clothing and other materials.
Immediately after soul-stirring and moving service, the possession to bed her a final farewell was lead with a glorious songs of celebration all this to her final resting place where a short service led by Reverend J. Ola Babalola was conducted before her remain were finally lowered six feet under at the grave.
Thereafter, the grand reception for the life well spent of Mama continued. This was part of the funeral rites for a well deserving mother who touched lives when she was alive. Mama would be remembered greatly, numbers of notable personalities graced the occasion.
Venue for the celebration of life was Bethel African Church, Mologede compound in Lagos State. The event which was well attended had in attendance of the children, grand children, Inlaws, friends and well wishers.
There was much to feast on as varieties of food and drinks were in abundance with musical entertainment by K wonder who thrilled everyone present. Many people who came had so many eulogies about Mama Eleso's life as it affected them.
They all concurred she was a woman who lived a life worthy of celebration.
