The newly formed political movement in Nigeria, Youth Occupy State Assemblies (YOSA) on Wednesday stormed Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital to continue its nationwide awareness campaign.
The group converged at the State Secretariat of Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN), to formally meet the executives of the Party in the State.
The National President of the group, Comrade Eric Oluwole, while addressing the UPN exco, explained that the party was adopted as the only credible platform the youths could exhibit their political potential, stressing that the giant strides recorded on free education by the party in the old western region government, headed by the late Sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo also informed their decision.
Comrade Eric said, " among many pivotal qualities that distinguished UPN from other political parties in Nigeria today, is the Party's free nomination form given to all qualified aspiring youths contesting under the platform of the party. This singular gesture displayed by the leadership of UPN, was one of the major challenges that discouraged youths in vying for political offices across the nation".
While welcoming the group, the Ogun State UPN Caretaker Chairman, Alhaja Aminat Olatunbosun saluted the passion of the Party's flagbearer in the 2015 gubernatorial election in Ogun State, Otunba Olatunde Rotimi Paseda, saying his goodwill and leadership skills have greatly motivated the youths to get involved in the governance of the State and Nigeria at large.
Alhaja Olatunbosun therefore urged the youths to take the bull by the horn, by displacing the old politicians from the governance of the country, through the State Assembly elections coming up in 2019.
