A justice of the Federal Capital Territorry, Justice MUSA I.O sitting in Abuja has sentences one Mr Akeem Oluwafemi Akanni to one month imprisonment with an option of twenty thousand naira fine.
Akeem met his Waterloo while he falsefully presented himself as an Officer of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC to one Mr Abdullahi Idris, a staff of the Nigerian Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Kaduna.
Report shows that early this year the convict, while posing as an EFCC officer, attempted to obtain a sum of three hundred thousand naira from Idris ostensibly to assist him to kill a case file against him, an action which contravenes a section 95 of a penal code law of the Federation of Nigeria Abuja 1990 and purnishable under the same law section 322.
The defendant pleaded guilty after the charges were read to him.
Justice Musa thereafter sentenced him to one month imprisonment with an option of fine based on the plea bargain agreement between the parties.
